Exploring the Vast Serengeti Landscape
After an early morning, you will begin your journey along a breathtaking landscape, traveling on a designated gravel road. As your vehicle ascends out of the Rift Valley, you will be treated to stunning views, eventually reaching the endless plains of the Serengeti. In Masai, Serengeti means “endless plains,” and you will quickly notice the vast grassland savannah stretching across the horizon, with dense populations of animals grazing on short grass.
Serengeti is undeniably a must-visit park for anyone planning a trip to Tanzania. It is home to the greatest natural wonder of the world: the Annual Wildebeest Migration, during which thousands of animals march in search of fresh green pasture and water, fearlessly continuing their journey for survival. After your game viewing experience, you will then drive to your camp for an overnight stay.

Serengeti National Park
The entire day is dedicated to game drive viewing in the Serengeti National Park, offering the ideal locations for wildlife enthusiasts to spot migrating herds. Predators typically follow closely behind the trekking animals, adding to the thrill of the experience. During the short rainy season, from early November to late December, the herds move from the northern hills to the south.
Similarly, during the conventional rainy season, from mid-April to late June, the herds make their way back north. Since the migration is heavily influenced by the rains, the location of the herds may vary from year to year. However, rest assured that the driver-guide will know exactly where to spot them at the optimal time. After the game drive, you will be transferred to your camp for an overnight stay.

Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Conservation Area
In the morning, after breakfast at your camp, you will head out for another game drive in the Serengeti National Park. During this drive, you might spot animals that you haven’t seen during the previous two days. The Serengeti is also home to the “Big Five” — lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and the elusive leopard. Today, you may have the opportunity to spot all the members of this iconic group.
Later, after enjoying lunch at a designated picnic site, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Upon reaching the edge of the crater, the vast caldera will unfold before you. This estimated 20 km wide crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized by IUCN, and is home to more than 25,000 animals. Finally, you will drive to your camp, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the sunset over the crater.

The morning after breakfast, from your hotel, we will visit the waterfalls, which are about a 45-minute walk away. Along the way, your guide will give you a glimpse into the local culture, provide insight into village life, and explain the surrounding flora and fauna. The views here are truly remarkable and breathtaking. You will spot the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world. The pool at the bottom of the waterfall is a welcoming place for a refreshing swim, so don’t forget to wear a swimming costume.
After enjoying the beautiful view and tranquility, you will slowly return with your guide to Materuni village, where you will experience step-by-step preparations of local coffee and a traditional Chagga lunch.
Finally, in the late afternoon, you will be taken to your hotel or the airport for departure, marking the end of your Tanzania Family Safari.

Lake Eyasi – Karatu (Cultural tour)
Lake Eyasi is a scenic, shallow soda lake nestled on the southern border of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA). This lesser-visited lake lies at the base of the Eyasi escarpment, on the western edge of the Rift Valley wall. In the afternoon, you will be introduced to the local people who reside near the lake—the indigenous Hadzabe tribe, known as the last hunter-gatherer bushmen.
Additionally, the Nilotic-speaking Datoga tribe also inhabits the shores of Lake Eyasi. You will have the opportunity to visit these tribes, explore their homesteads, and learn about their unique way of life, including animal tracking and the medicinal plants they use for healing. Along the way, you may also observe some local wildlife and a variety of bird species. After these culturally enriching activities, we will drive back to Karatu for an overnight stay.

Karatu – Tarangire National Park – Moshi.
In the morning, after breakfast, we will begin our journey to Tarangire National Park, marking the final day of the Asilia Luxury Safari. This park is renowned for its large herds of elephants that drink from the Tarangire River, as well as its stunning variety of landscapes and nine distinct vegetation ecosystem zones. As you start your game drive, you will be greeted by the ancient, gigantic, and iconic Baobab trees, which are rich in Vitamin C. This abundance makes even animals like giraffes appear even more beautiful.
The game drive will continue until late afternoon, with a brief stop for a picnic lunch at a designated site within the park. The 3,100 square kilometer park derives its name from the famous Tarangire River that flows through it, playing a crucial role in sustaining the park’s diverse ecosystem. The river attracts a wide range of animals, so you can expect to spot elephants, giraffes, lions, antelopes, and zebras. Finally, after the afternoon game viewing and picnic lunch, we will leave Tarangire National Park and drive back to Arusha, where you will arrive in the early evening.
