Trekking in Mahale requires a moderate level of fitness, as the terrain can be steep and challenging. It’s advisable to prepare for a day of hiking that can last several hours, often requiring you to climb up and down rugged paths. The best times for trekking are during the dry seasons, from June to September and December to February. These months offer clearer trails and more predictable chimpanzee behavior. However, the park’s beauty is evident year-round, with lush greenery after the rains providing a vibrant landscape.
