Walking Safari and Game Viewing – Selous
Today begins with a thrilling and intimate experience — an early morning walking safari through the wilds of Selous. Accompanied by a professional guide and an armed ranger, you’ll explore the bush on foot, allowing you to see and feel the landscape in a way that a vehicle simply can’t offer. You’ll learn to identify animal tracks, spot birds in the trees, and discover medicinal uses of local plants as your guide shares stories and insights about the ecosystem.
This slow-paced, immersive journey connects you directly with nature — whether it’s observing insects up close or quietly watching antelope graze in the morning light. Walking through the wild, with only the sounds of your footsteps and the rustle of leaves, is both humbling and exhilarating. The walk typically lasts a few hours and is tailored to your comfort level.
After returning to the lodge for breakfast or brunch, you’ll have the afternoon to either relax or head out for another optional game drive. Whether you choose to enjoy the lodge amenities or venture into the bush again, today offers a beautiful blend of adventure and tranquility in one of Africa’s most untouched reserves.
Birdwatchers and bird enthusiasts will also find Lake Manyara to be a perfect destination, with a huge variety of bird species on display in the park. Even birders can expect to be amazed by a large group of flamingos (flamboyance), circling birds of prey, and the beautifully colored lilac-breasted roller.
Lunch will be served in the park at the picnic site, and in the afternoon, you will be heading back to Arusha.

Ruaha to Udzungwa Mountains National Park
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll bid farewell to the rugged beauty of Ruaha and begin your journey toward the lush and green Udzungwa Mountains. The drive offers a striking contrast to the arid savannas you’ve experienced — as you travel east, the scenery gradually shifts to rolling hills, dense forests, and farmland dotted with villages.
Arriving in Udzungwa by early afternoon, you’ll check into your lodge nestled near the base of the mountains. This region is known for its rich biodiversity, housing unique flora and fauna not found anywhere else in the world. The Udzungwa Mountains are part of the Eastern Arc chain — often referred to as the “African Galápagos” because of the number of endemic species.
Depending on your arrival time and energy level, you may take a short nature walk or relax at the lodge while soaking in the cool mountain air and verdant surroundings. Tomorrow promises a more active adventure with a scenic waterfall hike — but for now, enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and the change in pace.

The trail leads you to the stunning Sanje Waterfalls, one of the tallest in Tanzania, cascading 170 meters down a forested escarpment. At the top, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the Kilombero Valley below — a truly breathtaking moment. You can relax near the pool, take photos, or just enjoy the refreshing mist before beginning your descent.
After the hike and a well-deserved lunch, you’ll drive to Mikumi National Park. The landscape once again transforms, this time to wide open plains dotted with acacia trees and baobabs.
